With contributions by way of engineering mixing or production on over two hundred sessions, George Massenburg has helped to create some of the best sounding records made in the past thirty years. He has designed, built and managed several recording studios, notably ITI Studios in Maryland and The Complex in Los Angeles, as well as providinging acoustic and architectural designs to many others, including Skywalker Sound in Marin County and the world renowned Studio C at the Blackbird complex in Nashville.
George started GML in 1982 to produce equipment as needed for specific recording applications. Over thirty years later many 100s of GML Parametric EQs Dynamic Range Controllers and Microphone Preamplifiers can be found in equipment racks at all of the world's finest studios. GML also consults and provides independent design for several major audio electronics manufacturers, along with acoustic and architectural designs to many others.
George is currently Adjunct Professor of Recording Arts and Sciences at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and visiting lecturer at UCLA and USC in Los Angeles, California, Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts and MTSU in Murfreesboro Tennessee.
A recipient of many industry awards, including a Grammy for Technical Achievement, he continues to receive accolades from peers and artists alike. The GML product designs reflect this unique technical and creative heritage.
