The
GML 2032 Microphone Preamplifier/Parametric Equalizer is a
single-channel, multi-input device for high-resolution recording
applications. Incorporating the renowned 8300 preamplifier and
reference-standard EQ from the GML 8200, the Model 2032 is the product
of over twenty years of engineering expertise. This ultra
transparent class-A discrete design with integrated internal power
supply delivers reliability, musicality, and precision.
The Preamp section of the 2032 The preamplifier
section of the Model 2032 is
based on the gain stage of the Model 8300 Transformerless Mic
Preamp, though there are some design changes and a few additions to expand
its capabilities further than is realized in the highly specialized Model 8300
mic preamp.
Outstanding Dynamic Range Another
feature to distinguish the GML 2032 is its huge dynamic range. The
preamplifier and filter sections maintain low-noise high headroom
transparent operation under all conditions. In the EQ section, this
extended dynamic range allows for the addition of 15 dB of gain in
multiple frequency bands simultaneously with no distortion or loss of
detail. This amazing accuracy is due to a GML design policy which
ensures audio circuits comprise discrete components. Discrete
designs, when executed properly, help to preserve sonic integrity and
musicality, whilst maintaining the widest dynamic range. These discrete
designs (and this discrete op-amp in particular!) offer much better
clarity than integrated counterparts.
